Transportation to Airport from Qingdao City Center

Qingdao Jiaodong Intl. Airport

The distance between the city center and Qingdao Airport is approximately 31kilometers. Airport shuttles, which operate at regular intervals from various points of the city, taxis, rental cars and metro line are among the transportation alternatives that you can use.

Shuttle Bus

The most commonly preferred transportation alternative for travelling to the airport from Qingdao city center is shuttle bus. These buses, which are both budget-friendly and comfortable, offer service every day. They provide service with 3 city routes and 2 tourism bus routes.

Route 1: The last stop of the bus route 701, which operates between Huiquan Hotel – Airport, is the north bus station in Qingdao Airport. You can use this route from 05:45 am to 04:45 pm. The buses, which depart every half an hour, reach the airport in about 1 hour.

Route 2: The bus route 702 operates between 05:30 am – 08:30 pm from Qingdao Railway Station, 05:40 am – 08:40 from GreenTree Inn and 06:00 am – 09:00 pm from Sifang Hotel. Travelling to the airport by these buses departing every 40-60 minutes takes about 80 minutes.

Route 3: The departure point of the route 703 in the city center is the Century Mandarin Hotel. The buses start operating at 06:00 am and continue offering service until 05:45 pm. The travel lasts about 1 hour and ends in the north station of the airport. 

The ticket price of the bus routes 701, 702 and 703 is 20 CNY and you can buy your ticket from the ticket offices at the bus stops.

Tourism Bus Route 1: The first departure point of this bus route, which is called as Huangdao bus route, is the Qingdao Blue Horizon Hotel. The buses start operating at 05:30 am and continue offering service until 07:30 pm. They depart every hour and the ticket price is 40 CNY.

Tourism Bus Route 2:  This route is called as Jiaonan bus route and you can get on the bus from the bus stops located on Shanghai Road. This bus route offers service at 05:30 am, 07:30 am, 01:30 pm and 03:30 pm. The ticket price of this route is 60 CNY.

Despite of being the most budget-friendly transfer alternatives, airport shuttles can be very crowded and stop frequently to pick up passengers. In addition, if you have much luggage, you may have trouble by choosing this option.

Taxi

It is not difficult to find a taxi in the city center for travelling to Qingdao Airport in the fastest way. You can easily find a taxi on the streets of the city or demand a taxi by calling one of the taxi stands in advance. The fares can vary depending on the distance travelled. The average cost of travelling to the airport by taxi is 85-130 CNY. For example, if you get on a taxi between 05:00 am and 10:00 pm, the taximeter starts from 7 CNY and adds 1.2 CNY per kilometer from the first 3 kilometers to 6 kilometers and 1.8 CNY for further distances. The night tariff is valid from 10:00 pm to 05:00 am. During these hours, the taximeter starts from 7 CNY and adds 1.6 CNY for 3-6 kilometers and 2.2 CNY for further distances. Travelling to the airport from the city takes about 45-60 minutes. If you are in a hurry, you can ask the driver to use the shorter way which is the highway 308 instead of the highway Qing-Yu which they usually use.

Metro

You can also reach the airport by using the metro station offering service to Qingdao Airport. You can take the Qingdao Railway Station line 7 and get off the train when you come to the airport line 2.

Car Rental

If you want to rent a car for your transportation between the city center and airport, you can visit one of the international car rental companies in the city or evaluate other companies recommended by your hotel. However, if you book in advance, you can reduce your transportation cost. You can also compare a few companies and choose the most suitable one for you. Avis, Europcar, Ez, Firefly and Dollar are among the international companies that you can visit. There are also local car rental companies offering service in the city. You can easily find your way with the help of navigation and direction signs.

While making your hotel reservation, you can ask whether they offer transfer service for their guests. In some hotels, this service is included in the price in terms of the customer satisfaction. If they offer this service, you can easily travel to your destination.

Airport Information

Qingdao Airport is the main airport offering service to Qingdao in the Shandong Province of China. The airport is located 31 kilometers away from the city center. The airport is also known as Qingdao Liuting Airport. The airport, which is the main point of China Eastern Airlines and Shandong Airlines, is situated in Chengyang District.  

The airport, whose construction dates back to 1958s, welcomes over 5.2 million passengers every year with its constantly developing modern face. The airport is still one of the most important air transit centers of China with its expanded terminals and added facilities between 2004-2006. From Qingdao Airport, 84 domestic flights with 2 regional airlines and 49 international flights with 12 international airlines are performed.

The airport interconnects the south and north of the country. Some of the airlines at the airport are Nippon Airlines, China Airlines, Dragonair, Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Busan, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Airlines, Korean Air, Lucky Air and Xiamen Airlines.

Even though Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is not close to Shenzhen city center, you can easily access the city center with alternative means of transportation. You can always find a taxi at the airport. If you need a vehicle to comfort you during your entire visit, you can also rent a car at the airport. Airport shuttles are also available. If you prefer public transportation means and to keep your transportation expenses at minimum, you can take metro or bus.

Taxi

You can reach city center by taking a taxi from the airport in half an hour on average. Do not forget that there are two types of taxis in the city, red and green; and that green taxis serve to rural areas or distanced locations while the red ones serve within the city. Thus, in order to go to the city center you need to take a red taxi. It costs around 100 yen to go to the city centre by taxi.

Car Rental

Zhizun and China Auto car rental companies serve at the airport. Take the southeast direction on G4 highway with your rental car, and you will be in the city center in about half an hour. You can also rent a car with a driver if your budget is suitable for it.

Metro

It is possible to reach the city center in like 10 minutes with the metro that is operating from 06:30 till 23:30. The ticket costs 2 yen.

Shuttle

There are shuttle buses departing from the airport and going to the city center directly. Shuttles start operating at 07:30 and continue serving till the last flight. The journey lasts around 30-35 minutes under normal conditions.

Bus

You can reach city center or other spots in the city with the public buses operating from the early hours of the day till late hours. Most of the lines are express and thus going to the destination directly. Ground Transportation Center (GTC), located in the luggage delivery point at terminal C, might help you to choose the correct bus for you.
