Boise, the capital and most populous city of Idaho sits on the Boise River in the southwestern part of the state. As of 2020, it had a population of around 235,000. The Boise metropolitan area, known as the Treasure Valley, is the most populous in Idaho, encompassing five counties with a combined population of 749,202.

Notable attractions include the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, the World Center for Birds of Prey, and the Bogus Basin ski area. Boise Towne Square Mall is a major shopping destination, and the city is home to the state's largest giant sequoia near St. Luke's Hospital.
