About Maan

Maan city in the south of Jordan is located 218 kilometers south-west of the capital Amman. Maan city, the capital of Maan Governorate, has a population of about 50 thousand people. The city, which is on the modern Desert Highway and the ancient King's Highway, is a transport hub. Sunni Muslims live in large proportions in the city, where schools suitable for the Hanafi sect also exist. While 54% of urban population is made up by men, 45% is made up of women.

Al Hussein Bin Talal University, the only university in the city, offers undergraduate studies in art, science, business, archeology, education and nursing. Maan Special Economic Zone is located in the city to encourage the economic activity in new industrial areas. Along with the arid climate in the region, the summers are hot and the winters are cold and rainy.
