About Uzice

Uzice, the administrative center of the Zlatibor district in the western part of Serbia, has a population of about 52,000 people. Located on the banks of the Detinja River, the city is 411 meters above sea level. Surrounded by the Dinaric Alps, the city lies 25 kilometers south of Mount Zlatibor. To the west of the city is the city of Tara, as well as the Zvijezda mountains where the National Park covers a large area that protects the beautiful, old-growth forest from development.

There is also a tunnel about 6 meters in length along the railway on the Belgrade-Bar railway line connecting the northern regions of the country and the Montenegrin coast to Uzice. The factories are located in the suburbs because it is close to the highway, railway and airports in the city, which has a developed textile, leather, machinery and metal industry. Among the architectural structures that the city should be seen include the Old Town Castle, St. George's Cathedral, Uzice Municipal Building, Uzicka Sports Hall and Jokanovica Kuca, Uzice's oldest historical building.
