The buses and trolleybuses run until 10 pm. In addition to public transportation, taxis are a convenient way to get around the city. If you are going to travel to the airport by using public transportation then you can get on the minibuses that depart from the city center. If you are staying in an area far from the city center you can get on one of the bus, minibus, or trolleybus lines that pass through your location and then transfer to a minibus that goes to the airport.

Minibus (Marshrutka)

These minibuses, which depart from the city center, will take you to a stop that is very close to the airport in a short amount of time. These minibuses have a very large transportation network within the city. There are hundreds of minibuses that operate all throughout the city. Bus and Trolleybus

Buses and trolleybuses do not provide direct service to the airport. However, you can still get on a bus or trolleybus and then transfer to a minibus that goes to the airport. Buses and trolleybuses are the second most commonly used method of transportation after the minibuses. Buses and trolleybuses operate in a more limited area than minibuses. The total trip also takes longer than it would take with a minibus. Minibuses will stop to let passengers on and off almost anywhere but buses and trolleybuses are not allowed to stop anywhere that isn’t a designated bus or trolleybus stop. Nevertheless, these vehicles are cheaper than minibuses.

Taxi

Taxis are among the most convenient method of transportation to get to the airport from the city center. There are many private taxi firms located in the city and it is quite easy to find a taxi. Taxi day fares are cheaper than night fares. In addition to private taxi companies there are also official taxi companies, which have a taximeter that they will turn on upon request.

Airport Information

Manas International Airport was formerly used as a military air base. Today Manas International Airport, located 25 km from the city center, hosts visitors from many different countries from around the world. The airport doesn’t offer extensive facilities. There are a lot of ATMs located in the passenger arrivals area. Besides that, there are some cafes and shops where you can go shopping, however these venues only operate until a certain hour.

Rijeka city center is located about 25 kilometers from Rijeka Airport and the journey to the city center takes about 30 minutes by car and taxi. In front of the terminal in accordance with flight times, taxis, buses and rental cars are waiting ready which are some of the alternative vehicles offered to travelers who want to travel from Rijeka Airport to the city center. If your priority is to travel more economicly to the city center the best choice would be to travel by the buses which are arranged in accordance with flight times. On the other hand, if your priority is to travel more comfortable and where you can carry your belongings more easily than an economic vehicle, an alternative you may prefer is the taxis that are ready waiting in front of the terminal. Rental vehicles are waiting for travelers who want to stay in the city for a few days or to explore different centers in the vicinity of Rijeka.

Bus

If you choose the airport shuttle buses departing in front of the Rijeka Airport terminal, you can complete your journey a lot more affordablely compared to other vehicle options. However if you use the bus you may still need to use a taxi or a different vehicle from the city center to your destination. Buses travel through places such as Opatija, Kraljevica, Rijeka, Omisalj and Crikvenica. Please note that in Rijeka, as in many other cities you must have an internationally valid drivers license for car rental.

Taxis await passengers at the taxi stop out front of Riijeka Airport, for those who do not prefer buses and rental cars when traveling from the airport to the city. Although the buses to the city are not so expensive, the taxis are usually found to be affordable and the price is worked out by a taximeter system. The fact that the city center is not too far away prevents the taxi journey in Rijeka to be expensive, but it is not as affordable as buses. If you cannot find a taxi in front of the terminal after you have landed, you can ask the airport information desk to call a taxi for you.
