There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.

Airport Transfer

Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.  

Airport transfers also include London-style taxis, limousines and luxurious midibuses. All you have to do is to make reservations and be at the place where you want the cars to pick you up.

Public Transport

It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.

You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.

Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Private Vehicle

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.

Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

Airport Information

The airport, in the Heliopolis area, is the second airport in Africa with regards to passenger traffic. With the completion of the newly constructed terminals, there are also many possibilities offered for those waiting for their flight.

Japanese, Chinese and Korean restaurants representing the Asian lifestyle, world famous fast-food restaurants, coffee shops where you can drink the most famous coffees of the world and pizzerias are waiting for guests at Terminal 1. You can also access health services at the airport, which has a large duty free store.

You can choose among airport shuttle, taxi or car rental options as well as shared vehicles and cars for your journey from Malmö Airport to the Malmö city center which is 28 kilometers away. Independent from the means of transportation you choose, you would reach the city center of Malmö in maximum 50 minutes.

Bus

With the airport buses called Flybussarna, you can reach Malmö city center directly from Malmö airport in 40-50 minutes. You can buy your ticket online, as well as from the ticket office in the terminal. It is possible to reach the main stops in Malmö and Lund with airport buses, operating between 04.50 and 20.00. As of 2016, single one-way ticket for Flybussarna buses costs 115 Swedish Krona if you buy it from the ticket office, while it costs 105 Krona if you buy online.

Taxi

If you will take taxi to go to the city center from Malmö Airport, it is suggested for you to ask the driver in advance if she/he is applying a fixed price. You can also learn how much it costs to your destination after telling the driver where you are going. It is possible to go to Malmö city center with the airport taxis in a reliable and affordable way. The fixed price required for this journey is 395 Swedish Krona (41 Euro).

Car Rental

There are many car rental companies that you can opt for at the Malmö Airport which is 30 kilometers away from Malmö city center. Some of these companies are Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Mabi and Sixt. Using the E65 highway, it is possible to reach Malmö city center in 15-20 minutes.
