Taxi

The taxis of Addu Atoll have plates with yellow numbers. The transportation to the airport by taxi takes about 26 minutes from Hithadhoo Island, 15 minutes from Maradhoo Island, 7 minutes from Feydhoo Island and only 4 minutes from the city center of Gan Island. If you wish, your hotel can call a taxi for you.

Car Rental

It is very easy to reach the airport by renting a car. You can get to the airport from both Gan Island city center and other islands by following the Link Road.

Speedboat

If you will accommodate on other islands of Addu Atoll instead of Gan Island, you can get to the airport by speedboat. You can get on a taxi after getting of the boat. The distance is only 700 meters.

Bus

If you want to get to the airport by using a means of public transportation, you can get on a bus.

Gan International Airport, which was built during the Second World War and offered service as a military airport for a long time, was used for domestic flights for many years but renewed in order to keep up with the rapidly growing tourism and gained the status of modern international airport.

There are many cafes offering delicacies for their guests in the terminal building of the airport where you can find many basic services such as ATM, post office or pharmacy. These cafes offer service for 24 hours. Those looking for more special tastes can enjoy the different delicacies of both local and international cuisines on Feydhoo Island located 7 minutes away from the airport.

Free Wi-Fi internet service is also available throughout the airport terminal. The world-famous accommodation center Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa has a private terminal at the airport and it is the first specially authorized terminal of Maldives.

Indira Gandhi International Airport is located 16 km from the New Delhi city center. Indira Gandhi International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. One of the easiest transportation alternatives to get to the city center from the airport is by using your hotel’s airport shuttle service. If your hotel does not provide an airport shuttle service then other methods of transportation include taxis, buses, or the metro.

The first thing we recommend you do when you land is exchange money into the local currency. We would recommend having local currency on you at all times. Taxi drivers or bus drivers tend to demand higher fares in foreign currency. If you have the local currency on hand you won’t face this problem.

Bus

The cheapest transportation alternative to get to the city center from the airport is by bus. Most buses depart every 30 minutes and provide transportation to major parts of the city, such as Connaught Palace and the Interstate Bus Terminal. Buses depart from the airport terminals and take about 50 minutes to get to the city center.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available at the arrivals section of the terminals and they provide convenient transportation to the city center. There are 3 taxi operators at the airport that charge based on the kilometers traveled, Meru Cabs, Mega Cabs, and Easy Cabs. There are also fixed-rate taxis that provide transportation to the city center. For these pre-paid taxis you pay the fare at the taxi office first and are given a receipt that you hand to the driver once you have reached your destination. After you’ve paid the fare at the taxi office ignore any requests for additional payment made by the driver. A taxi to the city center will cost around 200-400 rupee.    

Metro

The most convenient method of transportation to get to the city center from the airport is by metro. The Airport Express metro line provides a quick commute to the city center, running every 3 minutes from the Airport Metro Station located at Terminal 3. A portion of this metro line runs above ground, giving you a brief tour of the city. The last stop on the metro linke in the city is the New Delhi Train Station. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center by metro and tickets can be purchased from ticket counters or automatic ticket issuing machines.
