About Malmo
Malmö, one of the most populous cities in Sweden with a population of about 800 thousand, is located in the south of the country and is a port city. In the Malmö region, where the ocean climate is influential, the temperature in winter months is below zero degrees Celsius. In the warmest months of the summer, temperature reaches 22 degrees Celsius. While the nights last only seven hours during summer, sun rises at around 10 am in winter months. Malmö, believed to have been established for the protection of the city of Lund in the 13th century, has become an important commercial center of Scandinavia with the positive impact of the ports.
The city is connected to Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, by a 20-kilometer long bridge built in 2001. This bridge, called the Oresund Bridge, is a dream that has been thought for a long time and finally realized, costed about 5 billion. You can visit the old town center, known as Gamla Stan, the square named after the son of king of Sweden IX. Karl, Gustaf Adolf, and Stotorget Square, as well as the small square called Lilla Torg. St Petri Church and St Johannes Church are worth visiting. Parks such as Pildammsparken, Folkets Park are also suitable places for those who want to go out in the city.
