Antsalova, located in Madagascar, the island country east of Africa, is also the capital of the same named region. Situated in Melaky, on the western edge of the country, the city is a major agricultural city as it is located on the folds of the Soahany River. Antsalova, not on the coast despite being located on an island, is among the leading touristic cities of the country. The city is home to the world famous Stone Forests. The forest, consisting of sharp rocks in Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, also takes place in the World Heritage List.

Tsingy de Bemaraha Wildlife Basin is also home to the wildlife in the region. The Maningoza Basin, home to 153 different species of non-aggressive animals, is also located near Antsalova. Those who love trekking in the nature and river cruises prefer the Manambolo River. While the rock formations, cliffs and valleys that this river creates are a point of attraction for tourists, canoeing and kayak tours are held on the river. There is also Antsalova Airport in the city. This airport, where Air Madagascar and private aircrafts land, is not a very large and developed airport serving only to domestic flights.
