Chania is one of the most beautiful cities of Crete and amazes the tourists both by its natural beauties and its five thousand year of deep-rooted past. The most visited places of Chania are Splantzia and Kasteli. There are some monuments of ancient Minoa, whose traces of the past reach the present day. Back then, Chania used to be the most important and commercial centre of Crete. This city also has a magnificent harbour. In Chania, there were many civilizations such as Romans and Byzantines, the monuments of which have been preserved until today just like in their first days in a very special settlement, the district of Kasteli. When you take a walk in the narrow and labyrinth-like streets of Angelou, Theophanpus and Zembeliou, you can see stone houses dating back to 17. century. The area formerly used as a military base and barracks located behind the walls are now open to visit as Nautical Museum of Crete. The Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in the district of Topanas and the public parks in the city centre are also among the must-see places. You can sunbathe and join various events as much as you wish in such long beaches as Kountourioto and Tombazi. Along the beach road, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. The Archaeological Museum of Chania in Sintrivani Square, known as the city centre, presents the remains of the ancient civilizations in this region, especially the Minoan civilization. When the building of this museum was used as a church in the era of Venetian rule, it was converted into Yusuf Pasha Mosque during the Ottoman period. In Chania Market (Agora), you can taste many diferent dishes of typical Greek couisine. You can arrive this city via flights to Chania International Airport. The city centre is about 14 kilometres away from the airport. China has temperate climate, that is, it is warm and a bit rainy during winter whereas it is hot and humid in summer season.
