About Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is an important touristic city which was established high in the mountains of northern Thailand. The temples of this city, situated near the Ping River, are especially famous.
 
Wat Prathat Temple, being a pilgrimage site of Buddhists, Wat Phra Doi Suthep, Phra Tamnak Phu Phing, and Namdhari Sikh Temple are the main temples. In the city the places, such as Doi Inthanon National Park, Tribal Museum, Wat Chiang, Wat Jet Yot, Dokmai Gardens, Natural Elephant Park, Water Park and Chiang Mai University may also be visited.
 
Chiang Mai, which has seen a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting in recent years, is renowned for its Thai massage parlors. Another beloved activity of the city is rafting, especially in January and Feburary. This is because Chiang Mai has a tropical climate, where the average temperature stays between 23-35 ℃ all year. March to June are the warmest months, where daytime temperatures can rise up to 40 ℃. The months between November and February are the dry season where the average temperature is around 25 ℃. In July and October it is both hot and rainy. 

An interesting method of transportation in Chiang Mai are the half-open taxis called Songthaew. You can reach Chiang Mai via bus or plane from other Thai cities, such as Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui. 

Transportation to Chiang Mai City Center from Airport

Public transportation vehicles or tuk-tuks which are widely used in the city are not allowed to enter Chiang Mai International Airport. You can reach the city center by taxi or rent a car at the airport. It is important to remember that almost all the hotels in Chiang Mai have airport shuttles and you can go to the hotel effortlessly with these shuttles.

Taxi

You can get to the city center from the airport by paying 120 baht. The travel lasts approximately 20 minutes. You should remember that there are a few taxi companies offering service at the airport and you should demand a vehicle from the 'Taxi' offices in the terminal.

Hotel Service

Almost all hotels in the city have airport shuttle services or limousines for their guests. You can get in contact with your hotel in advance in order to benefit from this service.

Limousine / Car Rental

You can see the limousine rental office on the first floor of the airport, at the passenger terminal opposite the domestic and international arrival terminals. There are car rental offices next to it. If you will drive, you must follow the road 4032 to go to the city center. Another alternative is to go straight on the road 108 and connect to the road 121. The travel lasts for a total of 20 minutes.
