About Eger

Thermal springs, historical buildings (including a Turkish minaret and a stone castle on the hill) and wonderful red and white wines of Hungary... The fascinating city Eger is the second biggest city in which Egri Bikavér's world-wide famous Hungarian red wine called “Bull's Blood” is produced. The Turkish Bath, a very beautiful Turkish architectural work, is also one of the most visited places of Eger. Its healing water with a temperature of 31°C is famous for having the highest radon ratio in Hungary. The glorious cinctures of the Turkish Bath is made of  Zsolnay ceramics, whereas the cupola on the middle pool is decorated with 200.000 small golden platforms. The calming glimmers, the sparkling and dancing surface of the water, and modern massage and mud therapies of this Turkish Bath attract thousands of visitors each year. After having a relaxing time in this bath, you can go to Eger Castle to see the panoramic city view. The Eger Castle standing on a high hill and surrounded by the stones, sheds light on the hundreds year of history. In this complex of castle, it is also possible to see lots of church remains. István Dobó Castle Museum, hosting many temporary and permanent exhibitions, is also located in this complex. There are wax sculptures of the many historical figures, baroque platforms, tombs and remains revealing the truth of the castle history in this museum. The city center of Eger is active and vivid during each time of the day and has plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and entertainment venues. The center of the town is a place in which there are many museums devoted to the history of this region and with various themes. You can also visit Szépasszonyvölgy, the most famous wine cellar of Eger and The Valley of the Beautiful with a very green area full of vineyards. In the vineyards on the valley slopes, you can taste traditional Hungarian cuisine and a wide range of wines and and also buy the ones you like.
