About El Borma
Situated on the border of Tunisia in Algeria, the city of El Borma is one of the cities were you can experience the country's traditional desert culture. The city is home to some of the country's most important oil production areas, though it has a town-like impression with a population of more than 3,000 people. Likewise, the border of Tunisia hosts the most important oil deposits of Tunisia. Located in the Ouargla region, the town and surrounding area are home to both the Tuaregs, a nomadic ethnic group, and the Arabs, who are both influenced by the Bedouins' traditions and cultures. When visiting El Borma it is possible to make a desert safari and see some interesting natural wildlife, even if the town itself does not offer too many tourist attractions. The capital city of Ourga, the capital city of Ourga, is located some 430 kilometers away.
Most of the visitors to the city are oil company executives, workers and researchers. The low temperature and water availability around 45 degrees a year makes agriculture unfavorable. Even though the small domestic El Borma Airport is located within the boundaries of the city and is used for domestic flights, visitors usually fly first to Oued Irara - Krim Belkacem Airport, which is 345 kilometers far away. This airport offers passengers direct access to London, Paris and Madrid.
