East of Kyrenia and located in the region of Alagadi, Esentepe is a part of Northern Cyprus's sea and sun area. This beautiful town has a holiday atmosphere with its never ending summer season and is located at the point where the Five Finger Mountains meet the blue Mediterranean. According to legends from the past, after the Trojan War, the Greek fighters are said to have landed in this landscape.

You will see many traces of its deep rooted history dating back to ancient times, especially from its magnificent beaches, from its old church converted into a mosque today, and by its luminous atmosphere and plenty of lit up streets. Alagadi Beach, located very close to Esentepe, is one of the places where you can listen to the waves of the Mediterranean. It is not permitted to do water sports there to preserve the calmness of the beach which looks like a tropical place with its golden sands. In June-July, sea turtles are specially protected because they leave their eggs. Antiphonitis Monastery, located in a valley 8 kilometers south of Esentepe, is the most important historical work of the town. A.D. XII. The church of the century is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, especially M.S. XII. and XV. It draws attention with its colourful frescoes filled with centuries of Bible depictions.

The town is most commonly known as the golf center of Northern Cyprus with its 18-hole international standard golf course and golf academy. In the town where modern facilities and traditionally preserved buildings are intertwined, and the majority of the population or holiday makers which come are British. In Northern Cyprus, Esentepe is a very convenient location for those who want to rent a house, especially a holiday villa and you usually come across regulars every year.

You can reach the center of Kyrenia from Esentepe by car in half an hour. The nearest airport to the town is Northern Cyprus Ercan Airport, which is approximately an hour drive away. Between the town and Larnaca Airport which is in Southern Cyprus, it is approximately 1.5 hours driving distance away. You can make transfers by taxi,  transfer service or you can rent a car if you wish.
