About Faisalabad

Faisalabad is the third-largest city of Pakistan, located in Punjab, eastern Pakistan. It serves as the commercial and industrial center of the region, with a population of over 3.2 million as of 2017, and higher estimates today.

The city is a major hub for the textile industry of Pakistan, earning it the nickname "Manchester of Pakistan". Other key industries include food processing, fertilizer production, oil refining, and chemical manufacturing. Faisalabad also hosts multiple power plants, including the Faisalabad Thermal Power Station, to support the energy needs of the region.

Situated about 184 meters above sea level, Faisalabad is located 30 km south of the Chenab River, which contributes to the regional irrigation system that supports agriculture in Punjab. The city is bordered by Chiniot, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh districts.

Notable landmarks include the Lyallpur Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar), Qaisery Gate, Gumti Fountain, Lyallpur Bungalow, Chenab Club, Agricultural University, and Faizan-e-Madina Central Mosque.

Faisalabad has a semi-arid climate with hot summers, where temperatures can reach up to 48°C, and mild to cold winters, occasionally dropping near freezing.

Islam is the predominant religion in Faisalabad, with small Christian and Hindu communities. Punjabi is the primary language spoken, with different dialects, and Urdu is also widely understood.
