About Hatton
Hatton city, located in Sri Lanka's Nuwara Eliya district, is run by Hatton-Dickoya City Council. The city is about 83 kilometers from Colombo, 44 kilometers north of Kandy and about one thousand meters above sea level. The city is known with Ceylon tea plantations, Sinharaja Forest area and Adam Hill. There are also many religious buildings in the city, so that the Sri Lankan government has chosen the city of Hatton as the "Religious Zone".
In the city, which has a population of about 15 thousand people according to the 2012 data, the majority of the population is Indian Tamils, while the rest are Sri Lankans, Sri Lankan Tamils and Sri Lankan Magpies. Places that can be seen in the city are Maanica Pillayaar Temple, Subramaniam Temple and Sri Muthu Mariyamman Kovil Temple.
