About Huddersfield

Huddersfield lies 310 kilometers far from London, between Manchester and Leeds in the north of the UK. It is located at the spot where the River Colne and the River Holme cross each other in West Yorkshire and mentioned as the eleventh biggest city of the UK.

Since there is a big university, where approximately 20 thousand students study, in Huddersfield, it has both the modernism of the youth and a deep history. You will see the effect of the Industrial Evolution, which began in the 18th century, and the best examples of the Victorian Period in the town, where the historical Huddersfield Train Station is described as the most gorgeous station building of the UK. In the town, there are about 3.000 buildings and more than 200 buildings with historical importance, and they are situated particularly around the George Hotel and Train Station. Viewing the town from the highest spot, the Victoria Tower, Saint Petrus Church and Pack Horse Center, a shopping center in the street with cobblestone pavements open only to pedestrians, are among the historical “must-visit, must-see” places we would recommend you.

The first thing that comes to mind when the name of the town is mentioned is Rugby, which is loved by the majority of the population and known to have been played here for the first time in its history. The rugby league team called Huddersfield Giants founded in 1895 and the football team Huddersfield Town AFC founded in 1908 are among the biggest sources of pride.

A great part of Huddersfield consists of Muslim immigrants, and the town has a lively environment together with young people who come there from different corners of the country for education. In the town, which is famous for its beer and cider in Europe, Oktoberfest Beer and Cider Festival and a music festival, which is among the biggest of the world, are held every year. You can have fun in the festivals and also visit a lot of art museums for free.

The transportation network in Huddersfield is perfectly equipped, and you can reach all the neighboring cities easily. When you prefer land route, you can connect to the town via M1 and M62 highways, or use the rail system.  Leeds Bradford International Airport is 38 kilometers far from the town, and from here, you can fly to all the cities in Europe and the UK.
