About Kyiv
Located on the Dnieper River, Kiev is the capital of Ukraine and a city of culture and art. Its squares and churches are worth seeing, including the St. Sophia Cathedral, Independence Square, St. Michael Cathedral, Opera House, Monastery of the Caves, Golden Gate, and Podil.
The best time to visit the city is summer and spring. With nearly 3 million inhabitants, Kiev is also one of the most popular cities in Ukraine. The city has a well-developed subway network, but taxis are also cheap. You can negotiate the price in advance and get around with taxis.
The Boryspil Airport is the preferred international airport and is about 40 minutes away from the city center. The other airport, the Zhulyany Airport, is mainly for domestic flights. From the airport you can take the train, a taxi or mini-bus (marshrutka) to town. The marshrutkas also run in the city. The busiest parts of town are the streets of Khreschatyk, and Maidan Nezalezhnosti.
