About Jindrichuv hradec

Jindřichův Hradec is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. The population of the town is around 22700. Architectural and cultural monuments are very important in social and cultural terms in Jindřichův Hradec, which remained under the influence of the Renaissance Period. Jindřichův Hradec Castle, the third biggest castle of the Czech Republic, is among the first attractions to see in the town. The castle has been the symbol of the town for centuries. The fact that the town is located in the center of the busy trade roads has a great role in the development of the international trade.

Jindřichův Hradec offers a lot to do and see for the visitors. In sense of architecture, there are many impressive structures around Náměstí Míru, the most famous square of the historical town. While walking at the Náměstí Míru Square, you can visit the Langer House Art Gallery, which is one of the buildings that remained under the influence of the Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance Periods. Vajgar Lake and the Nežárka River are the places where open-air activities are held in the town. Another place to visit in the town is the Jindřichův Hradec District Museum, which is famous for hosting the biggest mechanical birth scene of the world depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.

The scene that belongs to the famous sock master Tomáš Krýza consists of more than 1398 hand-made figures. Krýza spent 60 years on this work and entered the Guinness Book of Records with the Mechanical Birth Scene. You can find the famous restaurants of Jindřichův Hradec at the Náměstí Míru Square. The town is popular with the Czech pizzas. You can reach Jindřichův Hradec by the buses leaving from Florenc and Roztyly Stations. Bus and train stations of the town are 15 minutes distant from the Náměstí Míru Square.
