About Kampot
Krong Kampot, the center of Kampot Province of Cambodia, is located on the Gulf of Thailand. The city, which is located 30 kilometers of Vietnam border, is an important place where many tropical plants widely consumed in the region and country are produced.
Although identified with Malaysia, durian fruit is also a symbol of this city. Besides the durian fruit, which has a big sculpture in the center of the city, the products that are identified with this city are black pepper and fish sauce. In the city where agriculture and fishery are significant means of livelihood, rambutan, mangosteen and banana are also produced in large quantities. In the regions located on the Gulf of Thailand, the catching and tourism of seafood are also quite common. The tourists coming to this region enjoy catching crabs and lobsters by getting to the islands and bays by boats.
River transportation and tourism are one of the most important income sources of the city established around the river of Preaek Tuek Chhu. The products produced in the city are carried to the coastal regions by boats. There is also an airport in the city. Kampot Airport, which is located 23 kilometers northeast of the city center, is the only airport of Kampot Province.
