Minorca consists of seven municipalities. The port is located in the region called Mao or Mahon. This is also the place having the most cafes, restaurants and bars. Since Minorca is an island, it has a rich cuisine in terms of seafood. You can try the most delicious seafood in the fishing town called Fornells.

Handmade leather shoes and sandals of Minorca are called Avarca or Avarque and they are much admired. Those who consume alcohol should try local gin.

A wide variety of ancient remains dating back to the prehistoric times in Minorca are waiting for history enthusiasts. Minorca is also home to a great number of museums that will not disappoint museum lovers. Seven strategically positioned lighthouses in Minorca and Ciudadela Cathedral with its stained-glass windows are architectural symbols of the island.

You can go snorkeling or scuba-diving in addition to enjoying the crystal sea and wonderful bays of the island. There are also companies renting yacht or boat daily or for a few days. By joining the boat tours, you can discover the secret beauties of Minorca.
