Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport, which can be directly reached from certain cities like İstanbul, Antalya and İzmir, has a capacity of 700 thousand passengers per year. It is very easy to reach other places like Nevşehir, Ürgüp and Göreme from the airport that is located approximately 43 kilometers of Cappadocia, one of the most important tourist destinations of our country. Although its landing field has a capacity of hosting only 5 planes, there are more flights in busy tourism seasons.

Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is 25 kilometers away from the city center. You have some transportation alternatives such as airport shuttle services, taxi or rental car in order to go from the airport to the city center, the tourist attractions such as Ürgüp, Göreme and Avanos and even to some hotels.

There is neither any municipality bus service to reach the airport from the city center nor any minibus service for transportation to and from the airport.

Airport Shuttle Service

The airport shuttle service is the most commonly preferred transportation service at Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport. Because the city center and the tourist attractions are close to each other, these shuttle services take you to many places you can go in Nevşehir area for an affordable fee.

The shuttle services are arranged according to the flight times because the airport traffic is not very busy. The minibus shuttle service provided by Demirhan Tourism according to Turkish Airlines flights is one of the alternatives you can prefer. There is a minibus from the airport to Göreme and another one to Ürgüp. The minibus headed to Göreme also passes through Nevşehir city center.

Journey with both minibus lines takes about 30 minutes and you can get to the city center in about 20 minutes. The Demirhan Tourism’s minibus line to Göreme respectively passes through “Kapadokya Havalimanı”, “Gülşehir Meydanı”, “Forum Kapadokya”, “Meteris Meydanı”, “Gülbahçe Parkı”, “Versa Hastanesi”, “Uçhisar Hanem Art Center” and “Göreme Belediyesi Önü”. The services to Ürgüp and Avanos depart from Kapadokya Airport and then respectively passes through “Avanos Taşköprü”, “Avanos Meydanı”, “Altınyazı Otel”, “Hadosan Otel”, “Dinler Otel”, “Ürgüp Belediyesi” and “Ürgüp Hamam”.

The ATS Transfer is another alternative that serves as airport shuttle service. It is run just like an airport shuttle service, but you need to make a reservation in advance. They pick you up with minivan-type vehicles at the airport and then transfer you to your destination from the airport.

Although the fees are a bit more than other alternatives, they are still affordable. You can get information by phone and make your decision accordingly.

Rent a car

There are the offices of 2 car rental companies at Nevşehir Airport for those who want to rent a car for a more flexible travel program. The car rental service is provided by AVIS and Çapacı Rent a Car companies at the airport. You can easily find the offices of these companies at the airport, which is already a small airport.

Taxi

There are the taxis that are available according to flight times at the airport. It may be a little more expensive, but you can bargain. For example, if you are traveling as a 4-people family or group of friends, the taxi fare per person may be the same as the price of shuttle services. You can make a comparison according to and prefer taxi service because it takes you to your destination and it is much more comfortable.

The minibuses run by Demirhan Tourism are the best public transportation option to reach the airport from the city center or other tourist attractions. From the city center, Göreme or Ürgüp, you can get on these minibuses that are arranged according to the THY flights from the following stops: "Gülşehir Meydanı”, “Forum Kapadokya”, “Meteris Meydanı”, “Gülbahçe Parkı”, “Versa Hastanesi”, “Uçhisar Hanem Art Center”, “Göreme Belediyesi Önü”, Avanos Taşköprü”, “Avanos Meydanı”, “Altınyazı Otel”, “Hadosan Otel”, “Dinler Otel”, “Ürgüp Belediyesi” and “Ürgüp Hamam”.

The shuttle journey takes about half an hour. It would be useful to get information from Demirhan Tourism about the departure times by phone. Other than Demirhan Tourism, you can also take advantage of the transportation service provided by ATS Transfer Company. On your way to the airport, you can get information about the departure times of both shuttle services by phone.

If you have rented a car from the airport, you can deliver the car to the offices at the airport. Taking a taxi in the city is also another alternative you can prefer if it is affordable for you. Bargaining for taxi fare is a quite common in this city.

Airport Information

Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is located 25 kilometers from the city center, 35 km from Göreme and 40 km from Ürgüp. The airport is especially used for weekend vacations in the city, one of the important touristic cities of Turkey. The airport, which has two terminals as Domestic and International terminals, has quite a simple structure. Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport, which was opened to air traffic in 1998, has been busier in recent years; however, it is not an airport in which many flights are arranged.

The airport mostly hosts the flights arranged by Turkish Airlines and Pegasus between Nevşehir and Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya. In summer months, international flights are also arranged. The airport does not offer shopping facilities because it is not a busy airport. Likewise, you won’t have so many alternatives for eating and drinking. The airport terminal has a buffet where you can only buy snacks. Therefore, it would be useful for you to take some snacks and drinks if you need.  

The airport also has a parking area with 400 cars capacity and two car rental offices as well as a health and first aid unit.
