Playas del Coco, on the west coast of Costa Rica, is a small seaside town that has a quite a number of highly rated beaches alongside its main long sandy beach. It's possible to reach these beaches from Playas del Coco by bus, but this method isn't usually preferred by tourists, as the buses are quite old and very crowded. Taxis are probably the more preferred and common method of transport in Playas del Coco, however visitors are advised to reach an understanding about the route and the cost of the journey with the driver beforehand.
The beaches of Playas del Coco are so beautiful that they will keep the sun, sea, and sand lovers delighted all day long. There are also enough restaurants, bars, nightclubs and casinos in the town center to keep you entertained once it gets dark.
If you have enough time, and you’ve rented a car, then you can visit natural areas such as the Vieja Volcano, the Cortes Waterfall, and the Marino Las Baulas National Park, which offers some amazing trekking experiences. These locations are all 1 or 2 hours by car. You can also enjoy the sea by renting a boat and going to the Gorilla Rock area where snorkeling also highly recommended. You can also haggle if you want to by offering half of the amount of the initial rental price offered by the boat owner. Surfing, sailing, golf and fishing are just some of the other activities you can do in Playas del Coco.
It’s important to make sure that your visit doesn’t clash with the rainy season since Playas del Coco has a tropical climate. The town receives abundant rainfall between May and November, while the remaining months are all dry with high humidity. The temperature of the weather and sea are suitable for swimming all year round.
