Sheffield, one of the largest cities in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England, is a city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire. Transportation to Sheffield City Center from Airport
Sheffield Airport
Doncaster Sheffield Airport, previously known as Robin Hood Airport, is located 40 km east of Sheffield city center. There are a variety of transportation options available to get to the city center from the airport, including buses, trains, and taxis. Renting a car is another transportation alternative that continues to increase in popularity thanks to affordable prices offered by rental car companies.
Taxi
Taxis are a preferred means of transport to get to the city center from the airport because buses and trains don’t serve the airport directly. The licensed taxi company that serves the airport is Little Arrows. The company has a fleet of modern vehicles. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the city center from the airport by taxi. The spacious taxis, which can accommodate up to seven passengers, provide transportation to the city 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Bus
Buses are another transportation alternative to get to the city from the airport but the airport is not directly served by bus, you have transfer vehicles in Doncaster. You have to take shuttle bus X4 to the Doncaster Interchange, which is walking distance from Doncaster train station located 11 km from the airport.
Shuttle bus X4 provides transportation from the airport to Doncaster Interchange. These shuttle buses run every 30 minutes during the week and less frequently on weekends. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the Interchange from the airport. From there passengers can transfer to a bus that provides transportation to Sheffield.
Train
The airport isn’t directly served by train, however the Doncaster Station is located only 11 km away. Passengers can take a shuttle bus to the station and transfer to a Sheffield-bound train from there. The schedule for trains departing from Doncaster Station and traveling to Sheffield city center vary on weekdays and weekends. The trains operate from 5:40 am to 11:25 pm on weekdays and run every 30 minutes. On weekends the trains operate from 7:02 am to 9:49 pm and run every hour. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Sheffield city center from Doncaster Station by train.
Rental Car
Renting a car is another convenient transportation alternative to get to the city center from the airport. Traffic to the city and in the city is considerably light. This, coupled with the fact that public transportation alternatives do not provide direct service makes renting a car an even more attractive option. There are a variety of rental car companies located at the airport, including Avis, Hertz, and Europcar. These companies offer a variety of vehicles to suit any need and budget.
