About San Pedro
San Pedro Sula, which is located in the northwestern corner of Honduras, is a kilometer away from Puerto Cortes on the Caribbean Sea. According to the data of 2010, the city has a population of approximately one and a half million, being the second biggest city of the country. Since the damages of Hurricane Mitch, which occurred in 1998, Honduras has been one of the poorest countries in Latin America.
San Pedro Sula is also among the cities that were damaged. The banana production has completely stopped in the city for this reason. This causes crime rates to increase in the city as well. With a tropical savanna climate, the city frequently receives rain throughout the year, and the temperature values are high. Tornadoes and hurricanes may sometimes occur.
