About Sukhumi
Sukhumi city, located in the Republic of Abkhazia in the northwest of Georgia, is located along the Black Sea coast. Sokhumi, the capital of the country, has a population of about 44 thousand people according to 2003 data. Sukhumi, also known as a port and resort town, also has an airport. The botanical garden, founded in 1840, is noteworthy in the city, which is famous for its beaches, baths and hotels.
In the city where the humid subtropical climate is experienced, the weather is almost cool in summer thanks to ocean climate. The month with the highest temperature value is August, while the month with the lowest temperature is January. The city, which has many trolley buses and buses, also has bus routes connecting the city to Abkhazian cities. At the same time, there are daily train services to Moscow via Sochi. Only domestic flights are available from Babushara Airport located in the city.
