About Takoradi
Takoradi, which is the center of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan area in the western part of Ghana, is the region's largest industrial and commercial center. In the city, which has a population of about 445,000 people according to 2012 census data, the economy is focused on lumber, plywood, shipbuilding and railway repair. The city, which lies on a railway linking Kumasi to Accra, is also a port city. This port is an attractive place for investors and miners, as they can trade commodities on timber, energy, technology industries. Although there are many beaches, the city is not a tourist attraction, but there are small hotels in the city. Beaches are generally located to the west of the city, with Busua Beach and Lou Moon Lodge among the largest resorts.
