Tivat, considered as a peaceful town, is located in the southwest of Montenegro. Situated in the Bay of Kotor, which is included in the UNESCO World Hertiage List and also named as ‘Boka’, this beautiful town is 12 kilometers away from Kotor and 40 kilometers away from Budva, the most popular cities of the country. The root of the name Tivat “Theiodhos” is a Greek word and means “the Path of the Gods”.

Beside the Porto Montonegro Marine built on the Adriatic Coast, where luxurious and mega yachts anchor today, the fascinating beaches, parks, museums, shining streets surrounded by the green louvered houses and the nearby villages are worth visiting in the town, which is quite well-known.  You often come across Venetian style structures remaining from the old times in this town which was once a part of the Republic of Venice until the 18th century. You see a lively atmosphere on the coastal side closed to traffic. The festivals organized especially in summer and the Bocce Olympics turn the streets of the town into a more coreful place. Ljetnjikovac from the 18th century is the symbol of Buća and addresses to everyone looking for art activities and a nostalgical accomodation in the town. The name of the structure means ‘the summer house of the Buća Family’ which it locates in itself.  Gornja Lastva is a village close to the town and founded on the foothills of the Vrmac Ridge. This village is an important spot of the town for those who would like to walk viewing the village and attend the Lastva Festival held in August filled with dances.

The months between April and September are the best time to watch the sunset through the palm trees and visit the whole town thoroughly, which has a small and cute fishing village in addition to its big marine visited by those with high-level incomes. The distance between the airport and the center is 5 kilometers, and the town has the second airport of Montenegro after the capital Podgorica. As an alternative to this airport, which receives few international flights, the Podgorica Airport lies 93 kilometers away. You can reach the town by taxis and buses or rent a car.
