About Tokyo

In Tokyo you can also visit Ueno Park, the Yasukuni Shrine, Asakusa, Tokyo Tower, the posh neighborhood of Roppongi, and the nightlife district of Shibuya. The city's parks are wide and beautiful.

Tokyo has a humid subtropical climate. The summers are hot and humid, while the winters are cold with sometimes frequent snowfall. Fall and Spring are the best times to visit, and if you can visit in the spring during the cherry blossom season it will be especially worth it. 

Japanese cuisine is light and flavorful, but you can also find many excellent examples of international cuisine in the city as well. Be aware, however, that like with dining and transportation hotels in Tokyo can be expensive. 

Tokyo is home to two major airports. Haneda Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world; so busy that the government is trying to promote this airport for business-oriented flights while redirecting leisure and low-cost flights to Narita Airport, still the major airport handlomg international flights, further away. However constant bus and trains depart from both airports to the city center. Public transportation in general is quite solid in Japan, with extensive networks running all over the city and country. Taxis, by comparision, are an expensive option. 

 

Transportation to Tokyo City Center from Airport

Haneda Airport

Haneda Airport is located 14 km from the city center. There are a variety of transportation alternatives you can use to get to the city center from the airport. You can get to central Tokyo by bus, train, taxi, rental car, and personal car. The city center is about 30 minutes away.

Taxi

Taxis are the fastest transportation alternative to get to the city center from Haneda Airport. However this can vary depending on traffic. If you want to enjoy a comfortable and quick ride to the city center then taxis are a great choice.

Bus

Another transportation alternative to get to the city center from Haneda Airport is by bus. Buses are a more affordable option compared to taxis. The bus ride to the city center is comfortable and convenient. You can access the buses right after you land and you can be on your way without any delays. Central areas that you can get to by bus include Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama and Kanto. Before buying your ticket, make sure to find out what area your destination is located in.

Shuttle Bus

There is a free shuttle bus service that provides transportation between the terminals at Haneda Airport. The inter-terminal shuttle bus lets you easily travel back and forth between terminals. The inter-terminal shuttle bus runs every 5 minutes.

Train

Another method of transportation to get to the city center from Haneda Airport is by train. There are 2 different railway lines that you can use; the underground Keikyu train line and the Tokyo Monorail train line, which is located on the 3rd floor. You can get to the city center easily by renting a car from the rental car offices located in the terminal buildings at the airport. There are various rental car companies at Haneda Airport that you can choose from.

Airport Information

Haneda Airport is Japan’s busiest airport and the 4th busiest airport in the world. There are 3 terminals at Haneda Airport, which serves both domestic flights and international flights. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are the main terminals at the airport. Terminal 1 contains restaurants, stores, and conference halls while Terminal 2 contains an outdoor restaurant and the Haneda Excel Hotel.

The terminal buildings also contain a pharmacy, health centers, police services, baby care room, children’s play areas, ATMs, currency exchange offices, internet, telephones, massage and personal care services, and a lost and found section.


Narita Intl. Airport

Narita Airport is one of the two airports serving the Greater Tokyo Area. You can get to the city center from Narita Airport by bus, train, taxi, rental car, and personal car. There are a variety of transportation services you can use to get to the city center from the airport. Nartia Airport is located about 1 hour from central Tokyo.

Taxi

Taxis are a comfortable means of transportation that passengers can use to get to the city center. Taxis are available 24 hours a day, every day. Taxis are at your disposal from the moment you land. Taxis provide a comfortable and convenient ride to the city center. They also offer the option to pay with either cash or credit card.

Bus
