Bus

Marshrutka (Minibus / Shared Taxi)

The means of public transportation which has the most routes throughout the city are the minibuses called marshrutka. You can go to the city center in a quicker way compared to buses if you prefer getting on a marshrutka which provides great convenience in the city. You can see the marshrutkas at the terminal exit. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the city center from the airport by marshrutka. Ticket prices for buses, trams and trolleybuses are the same for every destination, but the amount you will pay for marshrutka varies depending on the destination. The overall price average is around 2 Hryvnia. Because it is more flexible than other means of public transportation in terms of working hours and working days, you can find a marshrutka any moment you want. Each marshrutka route has its own working hours and fares.

Tramway

Another affordable, fast and comfortable option you can use for your travels from the airport which is about 5 miles of Donetsk is tramway. There are totally 9 tram routes as 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15 and 16. Ticket price for single person is 1.50 Hryvnia by 2016. If you get on the tramway route 6 from Donetsk International Airport, it is possible to reach the city center in about 10-15 minutes. Working hours of the tramway route 6, which operate every 15-20 minutes, are between 04:50 am and 07:56 pm. The working hours of the tramway routes that don’t offer service at the weekend vary according to the route number.

Trolleybus

Trolleybus is the most preferred and popular means of public transportation in the city. Since it is interconnected with tramway routes, passengers can get to any part of the city in a quick way by transferring.

Just like the trams, the ticket price for single person is 1.50 Hryvnia by 11 February 2016. But their working hours vary according to the trolleybus route. There are totally 9 trolleybus routes as 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15 and 16.

Trolleybus route 2 is the most popular trolleybus route with the most stops in the city. The trolleybus route 10 with the longest route in the city connects the Gorky Coal Mine Enterprise and the October Coal Mine Enterprise.

To reach the city center from Donetsk Airport in 10 minutes, you need to get on one of the trolleybus routes 2 or 10. Trolleybus route 2 operates every 3-6 minutes from the airport to the city center, and it is possible to take advantage of this service every day of the week from 04:51 am to 08:50 pm. Trolleybus route 10 runs every 18-25 minutes and offers service from 05:54 am to 07:17 pm every day of the week.

Suburban Train

Suburban trains in the city enable transportation service between the city center and the airport. There are totally 8 suburban train routes in Donetsk as 96, 107, 107B, 107D, 107V, 111, 121 and 126. Even if they are more expensive, they can be used by those preferring a faster transportation.

Ticket prices and working hours vary depending on the suburban train routes. To get to the city center from the airport, you need to get on one of the routes 107B or 107V that you can find at the terminal exit. The suburban train route 107B, which offers service 7 days a week, operate every 6-15 minutes. Another suburban train route carrying passengers from the airport to the city center is 107V, which has a ticket price of 8 Hryvnia. However, it operates every 70-80 minutes from 04:10 am to 07:00.

Taxi

In Donetsk, almost anyone who does not prefer using the means of public transportation provides transportation by taxi. Taxis are cheap and take you wherever you want. Some taxi drivers even don’t run the taximeter and you can bargain on the fare. At Donetsk Airport, there are plenty of taxis. You can also find a taxi anytime you want in the city. Transportation from the airport to the city usually costs 100 Hryvnia. But if the driver does not open the taximeter and you do not bargain, this fare can be 140 Hryvnia. Travelling to the city center by taxi lasts about 12 minutes under normal traffic conditions. The distance is about 11.2 kilometers.

Car Rental

Car rental services are not very economical for visitors planning not to stay in the city longer. Visitors planning to stay longer in the city can rent a car and have a comfortable transportation during their visit. Those who want to visit other cities of Ukraine in addition to Donetsk can rent a car and make their transportation cheaper and more comfortable. If you make an online reservation before your arrival, you can receive your car as soon as your plane lands and take the road to the city center without losing time. The distance between the city center and airport is 12 kilometers and you should pay 3-4 TL as the gasoline price.
