About Djibouti

Djibouti is a small East African country, notably, it hosts American and French military bases on some of its territories. Situated on the route for aid shipments to some of Africa's poorest countries, Djibouti relies on this aid to sustain its economy.
The population of Djibouti comprises Somalis, Afars, and Arabs. The country is separated from the Arabian Peninsula by the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, along the Red Sea. Djibouti is strategically located with a coastline along the Gulf of Aden and shares borders with Eritrea to the north, Ethiopia to the west, and Somalia to the south. The country experiences a hot and arid climate, with an average temperature of around 32 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Due to low rainfall and subsequent droughts, Djibouti faces numerous natural disasters, resulting in civil casualties.
The capital city, Djibouti, shares its name with the country and is located along the Red Sea. It is the nation's commercial hub, with tourist attractions like beaches and a yacht harbor offering water sports and diving activities. The city of Obock, with its stunning coral reefs, is another significant city. Djibouti's Independence Day, celebrated on June 27th every year, brings people together with many festivities. In Djibouti, you can often find locals playing bocce in the streets, so you can join in to have a memorable experience.
The cuisine in Djibouti primarily revolves around dishes made from goat, sheep, and camel meat. With its access to the Red Sea, Djibouti offers a variety of seafood and exquisite tropical fruits, making it a hub for unique flavors.
